Agnes was a loyal Sunday School teacher from girlhood until she transferred her membership to the Primitive Methodist Church, Princes Avenue, where she again taught for some ten years until her removal to Port Sunlight [to work as a librarian and] where she took up the good work again for a good many years. From time to time during my early teens, the Chapel had had the services of a remarkable evangelist, Mr Julian Elwes […] His penetrating words moved me to take up full membership, and on Easter Sunday evening, 1906, I gladly passed through the ‘waters of baptism’ to the friends’ singing of  “Just as I am, without one plea”.
