Went to rehearsal again with Myaskovsky, and we were joined at Tsarskoye by Volodya Deshevov. I was stupid enough to travel without an overcoat; it was unbearably cold and before going on to play I warmed up with gymnastics and a glass of rowanberry vodka. I asekd Aslanov to make more of a pause before the second movement: after the exhausting cadenza it is physically impossible to go straight on and play the even more demanding Scherzo. The tempo of the Scherzo was not too fast, and they took it, as Myaskovsky recommended, absolutely piano. Thanks to this, the Scherzo went without problems. The Finale went better than yesterday. |
