At eight o'clock Nadya Shtember rang up and started jabbering away: 'Kokochka has been saying you've become such a darling person, and if you'll only come over to us this evening you'll be a darling person squared! Please say you'll come!'

I went. Nadya and Sonya have grown into such giantesses that it is positively alarming to look at them, especially after Nina. They are both pretty in a slightly coarse way. We all call each other 'thou'. Kokchka played the Liszt Concerto with great brilliance, a little hard but very well. I played them my Piano Concerto No. 1, which all the young ones liked very much.
