Romanov, who has returned to Paris came to call. Smirnova* is still ill, nevertheless Romanov hopes to present the ballet at the end of June. He already has the promise of a four-month tour of Germany next year. I played him the ballet. He was thrilled with it, and we embraced, but still would like some sections of it changed. Well, fair enough, but it is a pity: I worked according to the requirements of the plan he himself created, and I found it not by any means easy to write the concluding section in conformity with it. And now, if you please, it has to be altered. But the concert form of the music, the Quintet, will stay as it is, because of the the tonality. |
