16 August, 1826. - I have a long story to relate to my Mother, which I have as yet delayed, from not liking to tell her that Charles [her husband] had committed an act which I considered imprudent and extravagant, but I will now state his sin in all its magnitude, and leave her to find an excuse for him. He has thought proper to order from Paris what is called an orgue expressif, the new invention of M.
