Many of the workmen appeared to be strong men, and it is hardly necessary to add that they were all labouring quietly, then. After two o' clock in the day, they are allowed to sing, a certain number at a time. The hour striking while I was there, some twenty sang a hymn in parts, and sang it by no means ill.
