Ethel Bilbrough et al. in Chislehurst - 1 January, 1915
from Diary of Ethel Bilbrough, Christmas 1914, page 157:
On the 1st of January I got up a concert for them [wounded Belgian soldiers] at Holbrook [Auxiliary Hospital], and we had mostly French songs, though several of the men had picked up the tune and words of "Tipperary", and sang in the chorus lustily with their funny broken English.
