from Diary of Lance-Corporal Henry Buckle, 4 April 1915, page 39:

Seem to be dumped here for a day or so, seven of us at a farm, sleeping in the hayloft. The others are spread out all over the village in barns and other farms.... Great doings at the farm, extra café all round, and a sort of impromptu concert last night, in which the star performer was the old farmer with songs of the Franco-Prussian war. He pranced around slaying imaginary enemies and ended by unearthing a bottle of vin-rouge...
