Henry Buckle in Rouen - mid October, 1915
from Diary of Lance-Corporal Henry Buckle, Oct. 1915, pages 148-149:
The orderly brought a gramophone in today, had a few records going, but not many, for have to think of the other chaps. One poor fellow in the top bed is in a very bad way, shrapnel all over him and had many operations. He moans badly sometimes. Understand this is rather a big Hospital converted from a Convent; several huts like this are built in the yard and grounds.

Henry served with 1/5th (Territorial) Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment. His knee was injured in a trench collapse, and he was subsequently invalided out of the army.
