Sergei Prokofiev in Mariinsky Theatre - 31 November, 1907

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 2 December 1907, page 25:

The day before yesterday I went to Kitezh. In the spring, when it was new in the repertory and there were only four performances, I went to all of them, but this was the first one I had attended this season. I have a deep love for this opera; its beauties are of course beyond praise, but I must say that Tcherepnin, who was conducting this performance, was quite extraordinarily bad!
