Meyerovich, our First Prize-winner, played, and played extremely badly, why I don't know. I think he is an excellent pianist, with a good technique and great power, but on this occasion his playing lacked equally refinement and delicacy on the one hand, and fire on the other. I cannot help wondering if this is really how he is? Piastro played well, as did Mikhelson, and to my amazement Drozdov's performance of Tchaikovsky was also good.
