Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg - 17 December, 1912

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 17 December 1912, pages 265-266:

The opera performances took place that evening. Although I was not involved this time, the fact that next time I would be playing a leading part aroused my liveliest interest. Maccabeus went well on the whole; there was an occasional incident, but nothing developed into a major calamity. Andrienko was good; Arakina also but less so than usual. Kruglovsky was good, Rapp-Kleze awful. The chorus sang well and the orchestra managed all right without the first trumpet.
