And now a few words about Leipzig. At the Fête in the Gewandhaus, given me by Mendelssohn, there were about three hundred connoisseurs invited, who surrounded the three Härtel pianos, the room was brilliantly lighted, there was a full orchestra and chorus, a hundred and forty strong [...] The orchestra, conducted by Felix, played splendidly; there was not a slip.
