Charlotte Moscheles in London - in the beginning of 1843

from Recent Music and Musicians, page 293:

Without him no party is thought complete; I have already told you how he sings a trio all by himself; every one laughs, as soon as he sits down to the piano, over which he has perfect mastery; in his 'parlando' songs, which are for the most part in verse, he generally satirizes some folly of the day. He may truly be called the musical Molière of our time.
