Ignatz Moscheles in Leipzig - 1 January, 1851

from Recent Music and Musicians, page 363:

We had the Cantata 'Ein' feste Burg,' by J. S. Bach, a grand contrapuntal work; the hautboys, trumpets, and trombones here and there effectively doubled by Rietz; Mendelssohn's beautiful '95th Psalm,' with its pathetic Canon in C minor - the whole performance a worthy inauguration of the year.
