Before making the records, I went with Margaret to his beautiful house and met him [Edward Elgar] and Lady Elgar, who was so gentle and sympathetic with us. Margaret had worked hard at the piano score of the Concerto but she had played only a little of it when Sir Edward swept her off the piano stool and played it himself with great élan, poor Margie meekly turning the pages.
