I was still surrounded by quaint personalities like one Schreier, who billed himself on the windows of the cafes where he appeared as “King of Harmonics,” this being a speciality that he exploited to great effect in fantasias depicting the twittering of birds and which invariably produced a considerable increase of nickels and silver coins on his collection plate.
