Ignatz Moscheles - July, 1856
from Recent Music and Musicians, page 395:
Our journey might have been very unpleasant, for the rain poured in torrents, but what do wandering minstrels care about the weather? There is ever sunshine in art. We managed to get a coupé to ourselves, and David, who never separates from his violin, played all the finer for the obligato steam accompaniment; we had one Concerto after another, and then he tried passages from the 'Studies.'
