Joseph Szigeti in Harlem - in the middle of the 1900's

from With strings attached- Reminiscences and reflections, 2nd edition, enlarged, page 267:

One of my visits to Harlem was made in the company of Max Reinhardt and Alexander Moissi, of the unforgettable speaking voice and the lithe, feline movements. We happened upon a Negro wedding party at one of the less tourist-infested night spots where we could take in the Negroes’ dancing and music in all their abandoned forgetfulness of self and of the onlooker.
