William Kuhe had known many great artists in his time, and it was always a delight to me to hear him speak of the golden days of fifty or sixty years ago, telling me stories about them. He had heard Chopin play at a concert he gave in Eaton Place, when he (Chopin) was so weak that he had to be carried up into the drawing- room to the piano, and yet his playing was unique and unforgettable.
