Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatoire - 14 February, 20th Century, in the morning
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 15 February 1913, page 316:
Yesterday morning I went with Tcherepnin into Kotte's class to show him the Bassoon Scherzo. There and then it was tried out with four of the students. The students scratched and squeaked their way through it rather inexpertly, but what surprised me was how splendidly and entertainingly it came out. This time Tcherepnin was delighted with the Scherzo, and Kotte undertook to stdy and perform in properly. What a pity the student concerts are over!
