Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 26 February, 20th Century, in the afternoon
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 26 February 1913, page 328:
In Petersburg it was raining, mixed with snow. A white taxi took me swiftly to Pervaya Rota, where although it was by now eleven o'clock everyone was still asleep. I left my suitcase and asked the taxi to wait for me so that I could go on to the orchestra class in the Conservatoire. But this had apparently been postponed until the following day, so instead I went to the opera class. The first phrase I heard being rehearsed was none other than the famous 'I don't want to sleep in a bed!' Palechek demonstrated admirably the dying moments of the Countess.
