Benjamin Lumley in Her Majesty's Theatre - 8 March, 1845

from Reminiscences of the Opera, page 105:

It cannot be said that "Ernani" contributed in any marked degree to the financial prosperity of the year. Madame Rita Borio, who made her first appearance in this opera, achieved a certain amount of success, "with modifications." The new baritone, Botelli, was summarily dispatched with "faint praise." Moriani and Fornasari, the popular favourites of previous seasons, were not allowed to gather fresh laurels in the new opera without considerable resistance.
