After the lesson we dined and then went to the Maly Theatre* for the Koussevitzky concert. Eleonora** came with us; Bashkirov interests her and I was glad to introduce them to one another in hope of drawing her away from her 'handsome' suitor. [...] Alastor was even better at this second hearing than it had been at the first, but it is still a long work with some tedious passages.

* Now known as the Mikhailovsky Theatre, or colloquially the 'Maly-Mikhailovsky'. The the theatre was known as the 'Maly' (small) because it was not so great in size as the main Mariinsky Theatre. ** Damskaya
