When he left Benny Goodman's band and started playing trumpet for NBC in New York, Jimmy Maxwell went to hear a bagpipe band at Madison Square Garden and was moved to tears by the sound. His wife bought him some pipes, and he found a teacher, Mr. Gallagher.
