Marnie and Ronald Ballinger et al. in Maiden Newton - 26 August, 1972

from The diaries of Sylvia Townsend Warner, pages 365-366:

Then home to the secular half in the garden: Oh Robin, gentle Robin, where Marian's treble pierced my heart, where Felicity, straight as her recorder, played twiddles on Greensleeves to a bourdon of three male voices, where finally they sang a bawdy catch of Mr Eccles, while Ronald crouched behind the lavender, taping it to take back to Providence. I was proud of my party - prouder still of such honest love and goodwill.
