Sergei Prokofiev - 28 September, 1914, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 28 September 1914, page 744:
At five o'clock I came back to find Seryozha Serebryakov, and then after him Bashkirov appeared for his lesson. He has good hands, but the level of his abilities is still no more than rudimentary. He is a particularly weak sight-reader: the most he could do was haltingly stumble through an easy Mozart sonata! I had imagined he would be a much better player than he is, and never would have taken him if I had not liked him.
