Sergei Prokofiev in Alexandrinsky Theatre - 5 October, 1913, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 5 October 1913, page 525:

From the stationI hurried off to the Music Drama Theatre* for Godunov, where Myaskovsky was already waiting for me. The conductor, Bikhter**, prides himself on his originality, and in desperately seeking something new to say so distorted the themes that it was positively unpleasant to listen to.
