in Royal Festival Hall - between 1952 and 1954

from Southbank Centre Archive:

During National Service (1952-54) I was frequently at classical concerts. Do I remember rightly that standing tickets cost only two shillings? And anyway one was able to sit on the floor, resting back comfortably against the deep-buttoned, red leather wall upholstery. Here I heard first much of the classical repertoire at the R.F.H.
