in Royal Festival Hall - 1952
from Southbank Centre Archive:
My first visit to the Festival Hall was in 1952 when on a visit from my native Sweden. I have never forgotten it, as it was a wonderful performance in the magnificent new concert hall. I can only remember the main work which was Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony conducted by a exciting young conductor called Guido Cantelli (who later died in an air crash).
