in Royal Festival Hall - the 1950's

from Southbank Centre Archive:

1.  I remember thinking that the outside of the RFH was ugly, but being really favourably impressed by the interior, and most especially by the appearance of the organ.  This was at an inaugural concert for schools. [Roy Bain]  2. I was taken to hear Verdi's requiem at the RFH, I was aged 16 years and the whole evening, venue and music will be in my memory forever.  It led on to a lifetime love of classical music. [Ann Bain]
