Sergei Prokofiev in New York City - 23 February, 1920, in the afternoon

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 23 February 1920, page 479:

This afternoon saw the premiere of a new ballet by Carpenter, an American composer of modest gifts, followed by a dinner in his honour. How pleasant to reflect that while the untalented is honoured and his ballet staged, my opera remains unperformed on the shelf.
