Sergei Prokofiev et al. in Paris - 17 May, 1925, in the afternoon

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 17 May 1925, page 163:

He [Dukelsky] then played his Concerto to Borovsky and me, and also the first number and the theme and variations from Zéphyr. I listened to the ballet with undisguised enjoyment. The Concerto begins well, but afterwards deteriorates. At Dukelsky's request I played my Fifth Sonata and some of the Quintet. He was enthusiastic about much of what he heard, particularly the Quintet, but regretted that I had moved away from the diatonicism of the Third Piano Concerto. I agreed with him, and said that I had done so only for the sake of variety, but of course would soon revert.
