Sergei Prokofiev in Paris - 8 June, 1925, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 8 June 1925, pages 173-174:
In the evening I went to an orchestral concert of contemporary music conducted by Straram. Delage, Casella, Ravel's Valses nobles - all deeply soporific. There was more life about the Italian Rieti, whose piece had much charm and wit; but no Italian can resist the temptation from time to time to lapse into a special kind of Italian vulgarity - a pity!
