Sergei Prokofiev in Paris - 23 June, 1925, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 23 June 1925, page 186:

Arthur Rubinstein played a Chopin Concerto, and I fail to understand why a pianist as abreast as he is of contemporary developments should play Chopin with such a serious mien. In my opinion Chopin is a composer it is simply not possible to hear nowadays: it would have been a different matter fifty years ago, and will be fifty years hence, when it will be possible to apprehend him as one does Mozart.
