Georg Henschel in Darmstadt - April, 1877

from Musings & memories of a musician, pages 93-94:

[I]n April, I had the privilege of being the guest, at the New Palace, Darmstadt ... Every afternoon the children—sometimes they did it rather reluctantly—had to play to me on the pianoforte, and every evening after dinner—I was the only guest staying at the Palace—the Princess and I played some four-hand arrangements of classical music.
