[Letter IX] Most of the plays I have seen, were translations or adaptations from German and French works; and the few pieces of original Italian growth were full of improbabilities in the plot, and of commonplace sentimental declamation. […]
The music between the acts is so indifferent, that it would be doing it a service to say nothing about it […].
