I am going to my quiet little hill, after having been in public to-day more than I purposed ever to be again. I attended Princess Amelie to the rehearsal of Handel’s Jubilee in Westminster Abbey, which I had been far from meditating; but, as she had the Bishop of Rochester’s gallery, it was quite easy, and I had no crowd to limp through. The sight was really very fine, and the performance magnificent; but the chorus and kettle-drums for four hours were so thunderful, that they gave me the headache, to which I am not at all subject.
