Kate Luard in Vimy - 22 September, 1916

from Unknown Warriors: The Letters of Kate Luard RRC and Bar, Nursing Sister in France 1914-1918, page 89:

The __th Division Band came and sat down in front of the beds and played for an hour and a half, a good big Regimental Band, with lots of woodwind. It was lovely in this gramophone existence. They played Gluck, Rachmaninoff, Gondoliers and lots of things the men know.
