Thomas Moore in London, England - 28 January, 1819, at night
from Diary of Thomas Moore, 28 January 1819, page 261:
In the evening I went to the Opera, Perry having given me a ticket in the morning. […] The opera, one of Rossini’s; the new prima donna, Madlle. Bellochi: they say she sings well, but, until I get over the shock of her ugliness, cannot judge. The music clever, but rarely pretty, and full of mountebankism.
