Elizabeth Worge née Collier et al. in Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, London - 21 April, 1747

from Correspondence of Mr John Collier (deceased) and His Family, 1716-1780, pages 363–364:

Letter from Mary Collier to her mother, Mary Collier, 23rd April 1747

Tuesday my uncle carried us to see ye Beggars Opera, There was not a very full House, but ye Play was most Charmingly Perform’d, Mrs Cibber was Polly, & Beard Macheath, & all ye other Caracters [sic] by ye best Hands. I Can’t say 'twas so good a Play for my Sister Worge to see as some others might have been, as it was ye first she ever saw, There being so little variety of Scenes & Cloaths, Though she was highly delighted with that, & seems to be very happy.
