Ned Rorem in New York - 20 March, 1979
from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, page 240:
Rehearsals well under way for Miss Julie. The extremely young conductor, Peter Leonard, appears prepared beyond the line of duty (where is that line?), and Margulis, if unadventurous, is solid an thorough an knows music, although knowing music irrelevant to effective, even to expert, opera direction.
