Ned Rorem in New York City - 9 December, 1979

from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, pages 268-269:

Today, memorial service for Harold Brown at Rutgers on Seventy-third. Shirley crisply played his Preludes, which we hadn't heard for thirty-five years, and, sharp as snapshots, they defied time, familiar as one's own feet.
