Shirley Gabis Rhodes Perle et al. in New York - 24 January, 1981

from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, page 344:

Lecture at the Bloomingdale House of Music, after which I accompanied Roz Rees in a dozen songs. Gregg's auto got stuck in the ice and we almost didn't make it. Shirley smiled from among the anonymous Upper West Side audience, and the songs took us back to the pre-Paris forties: "The Youth with the Red-Gold Hair", "The Lordly Hudson".
