Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 26 January, 1934
from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 197:
Listen to a bit of a Contemporary concert from B.B.C. Suite 'The Nose' by Shostakovitch.* Very amusing & exhilerating - but I shouldn't be surprised if it were found to be uneventful & even conventional with all the glitter taken off - this, especially the Entre Acts.
