Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 23 July, 1934
from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 217:
After dinner listen to a great Beethoven concert from Vichy - conducted (Leonora 3, & Sym.5) by Mrs. Weingartner [Carmen Studer] & (Prometheus & Eroica) by Weingartner himself. Mrs. W. is poor, & W. not 1st class - but the indomitible value of the work does the trick.
