Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 29 September, 1934
from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 226:
Gram. and wireless after dinner. Berlioz' interesting Corsair Ov. & Irelands meandering Pft concerto. The form is so loose & it really is only cheap ballade music (attractive in its way) touched up. Helen Perkin doesn't make it sound as effective or snappy as she might.
