Fifth Viscount Torrington in Bala - 5 August, 1793
from A Tour to North Wales, 1793, page 282:
[Byng has described his arrival at the inn, after a journey on horseback and through difficult terrain in the pouring rain.]
Miseries over―comforts begin;―candles,―a great fire, newspaper, supper, and the harper, with as tolerable port wine as I have found in Wales.―The harper rattled away, and in a loud key, as I liked, till the sound lost its effect; and then I took to my writing.
