John Westcott in Portugal - 1811

from Journal of the Campaign in Portugal, by John Westcott, late Master of the Band, 1st Battalion, 26th or Cameronian Regiment of Foot, page 64:

[T]he Commanding officer of the 26th regiment took the band of his regiment to play at the nunnery…most of the officers were there, several local notables attended too. Some of the nuns sang and the band played several Portuguese and Spanish airs. The singing was delightful.
