John Marsh in Dorking - April, 1765

from The John Marsh Journals: The Life and Times of a Gentleman Composer (1752-1828), page 32:

At Dorking I paid my usual attention to the chimes & found that instead of "Britons strike home" they now played " Fill ev'ry glass," a much better tune for the purpose , as it employ'd the whole 8. bells, whereas in the other only 6. were used.
